Many
of you may have noticed the new "short course" markers in
the fairways and the markings on the cart paths. These
were purchased by Cobb's Glen and installed by the SCGA.
It is essentially two new sets of tee markers for either
younger golfers or beginners.
This should make it more fun to bring out the
families and not have to make the new golfers play such a
long course. The new markers also have their own ratings
as well.

South Carolina
is a test market for this program developed in a joint
effort between the
SCGA,
the
SCJGA,
NGCOA
and
US Kids Golf.
It is also part of the "Play
Golf America"
campaign through the
USGA,
PGA,
NGCOA,
CMA, and the
GCSA
to create new golfers. If this proves successful in South
Carolina, the program will be nationwide next year. Look
for some new "Cobb's Glen Family Events " to be scheduled
in August and September of this year.
