A
two-sport athlete at Irmo High School, Matt
McKenzie played on 5 Class AAAA State
Championship teams and received the J.C. Fowler
Memorial Award for the Most Outstanding Senior
Athlete in 1996.
An
AAU All-American basketball player, he played on
Irmo's basketball team which won one State
Championship and one Runner-Up Title. Matt
also played on Irmo's varsity tennis team for
six years, winning four State Championships and
one Runner-Up Title, and was named to the
All-State Tennis Team. As a junior tennis
player, he was consistently ranked in the top
five in S.C. and was the recipient of the Mark
Hodgin Sportsmanship Award.
At
Erskine College, Matt played both basketball and
tennis, during which time Erskine's tennis team
advanced to the NCAA tournament. He was named
Most Valuable Tennis Player his senior year.
Matt has been employed as head tennis pro at
Cobb's Glen Country Club since 2000 where he
also serves as Director of Tennis over the past
2 years.
